Bone char is a unique activated carbon, a carbonized substance containing tricalcium phosphate, which is good for adsorbing many toxic chemicals and heavy metals (such as fluoride, chlorine, chloramines, lead and mercury). Its main use for many years was in sugar refining. Bone char is a very effective water filtration media because it is able to remove many heavy metals more effectively than standard activated carbon.
